Initiation of Divorce / Dissolution

Filing fee: A $250.00 deposit is required at the time of filing. Personal checks will not be accepted for payment of filing fees and/or costs. Payments are to be made in cash or with a money order, attorney check, debit and/or credit card. Any additional costs accrued during the course of the court proceedings that exceed the funds on deposit will be the responsibility of the parties.

The Clerk of Courts office cannot assist you on this matter.

All divorce actions require service of the initial pleadings. Copies of the completed documents must be provided to the Clerk at the time of filing. If you wish to have time-stamped copies of the pleadings returned to you, additional complete copies will need to be presented to the Clerk.

The Clerk of Courts office will not make copies. You must bring them with you at the time of filing.

Forms are available online at www.supremecourt.ohio.gov (Domestic & Juvenile Standardized Forms) and www.odjfs.state.oh.us.

Notice

Any affidavits presented for filing must be completed in full, signed and notarized prior to submission. Incomplete or improper affidavits may not be accepted by the court and could delay your case.

Dissolution Without Children

Modifications to the Separation Agreement can be made prior to or during the final hearing; time-stamped copies with any amendments must be presented at the final hearing.

Final Hearing Requirements for Divorce / Dissolution

Please verify that all of the required documentation is brought to your final hearing. Failure to do so will result in rescheduling the final hearing.

Copies of the Petition for Dissolution and/or affidavits are not needed at the final hearing.

Upon arrival for your hearing, check in with the Domestic Court Bailiff / Magistrate's office.
